Wir waren 2x mit dem eigenen Fahrzeug auf der Insel. Beim erstenmal sind wir mehr Osten, über den Norden quer durchs Hochland Richtung Südosten gefahren. Bei der 2. Tour haben wir uns mehr westlich orientiert. Ein dritter Besuch war nur über`s Wochenende mit einem Mietfahrzeug im März.

We have been twice on the island, both times with our own vehicle. The first time we went around the east side of the island and through the Highlands. The second time we have stayed more towards the west. A third visit was just a weekend with a rental car in March.

Wer ein Häuschen mieten möchte, da kann ich Jadar, the old house, empfehlen. Jaðar 2, 801 Tungufell, Island . Es hat keine eigene Webseite aber über den Namen oder die Adresse lässt es sich gut mit google finden. Wohnzimmer , Küche, Bad und 3 Schlafzimmer. Kuschelig und sauber mit Blick in die Weite. Sehr nette Vermieter die eine Isländer Zucht haben. Reiten kann organisiert werden, jedoch nicht auf der Farm möglich. Ca. 2 Stunden von Rekjavik entfernt. In der Nähe ist Gysir, Gullfoss und die Secret Lagoon. Einkaufen kann man dann in Fludir recht gut.

If you would like to rent your own house, I can highly recommend Jadar the old house ( Jadar2, 801 Tungufell, Island). There is no website for it, but you will find it with google by looking for the name or address. It has a living room, kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. Its very cozy and clean with a great view int the wild nothing.  The house belongs to a Icelandic horse breeding farm. The owner lives in the house next to the stable. He can organize horseback riding tours for you. The farm is close to Gysir, Gullfoss and the Secret Lagoon. You can go shopping in Fludir, what is about 20Km away.
